Effect of Reservoir Parameter on Oil Rates and Steam Oil Ratios in SAGD Projects

The effect of reservoir parameters on oil production rates in Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) projects was investigated using numerical simulation. The results indicate that oil production rates can be expressed by a correlation which is significantly different from previous relationships. For example, oil rates are generally believed to be proportional to the square root of reservoir thickness. However, simulation studies indicate that oil rates are linearly proportional to the reservoir thickness.
