Abstract: This paper is concerned with a novel optical method for dynamic measurement of high-g acceleration movement.THis method is based on the phase shift of the diffraction light beams due to the movement of the grating. The two interfering diffraction light beams are arranged in a differential way, which enables the interferometer to be only sensitive to the movement in the desired direction. A Shaker and a Hopkinson Bar are used to generate the acceleration movement up to 10 5g. The test results from our laser grating interferometer are compared with that from several different kinds of accelerometers. The uncertainty of the nw method for 10g-10 4g is less than 3 percent, and for 10 4g-10 5g is less than 5 percent. !9
