A noncritically phase matched (NCPM) ZnGeP_2 optical parametric oscillator (OPO), pumped at 3.5μm, produced pulse energies of > 1.5 mJ at 7.8μm with an energy conversion efficiency of 6.8%. The measured wavelength does not agree with the calculated value from published Sellmeier coefficients.
