Regulatory Guidance for Accepting Contaminant Fate and Transport Models

The use of computer-based contaminant fate and transport models (Model) continues to proliferate and has become an integral part of most contaminated site investigations, management and remedial decision-making process. Examples of model use in contaminated site remediation include proediction of contaminant concentrations at exposure points, predictions and/or evaluation of alternative remedial methods, and, determination of aquiferr properties. Regulatory project managers often have to make management decisions based on model predictions. Regulators want to be certain that human health and the environment are being protected based on modeling results.
