Biological hydrogen production as an environmentally friendly technology

Supplying energy to the world in the 21st century involves two basic issues, securing enough energy to meet the needs of the 10 billion people expected to be populating by the middle of the 21st century and counteracting the global warming caused mainly by CO_2 generated by the combustion of fossil fuels. We must reduce the use of fossil fuels while introducing alternative energy resources in addition to water power and atomic while introducing alternative energy resources in addition to water power and atomic energy, that do not generate CO_2. Such energy resources are courrently limited technologiically and quantitatively to solar energy.
