Repowering, an Effective Way to Reduce CO_2 Discharge

Several repowering projects with gas turbines being added to an existing steam plant have been successful. Their success was rated by providing more efficient power generation from existing power plants at strategic locations in grid systems and by the reduction of mainly SO_2 and NOx emissions. Little or no credit was given to the fact that such repowering of old steam plants allows us to drastically reduce the CO_2 discharge from any power plant site.
