With the advent of combined cycle plants over the past decade has come some uncommon modes of operation that in turn have impacted the normal modes of protection against water induction into steam turbines. As a result, a departure from the previous, more traditional means of preventing water induction has been needed, and there have been challenges in putting proper operating logic schemes into place that will integrate combustion turbine, balance of plant, and steam turbine operating modes. A more comprehensive approach to water induction prevention has taken on a new urgency.
