Generator connection failure analysis

Two separate ocurrences of generator bushing overheating occurred at Consumers Energy's Palisades Nuclear Plant in January, 1997. This generator is hydrogen inner cooled and rated at 955 MVA. In the second occurrence, redesigned bushings experienced only none (9) days of service prior to the failure. In both occurrences, other components in the generator connection circuit experienced heat related problems.
