Electricity is the one item in the world that everyone wants; it is the key to breaking out of poverty and improving a nation's standard of living. There will be tremendous world demand for more electricity in the coming century. About 70percent of American electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels, and for the rest of the world, the percentage is similar. Thus there is a very important link betweent he future of electricity and the future of combustion technology.
