Historically,the water industry has focused its efforts on controlling drinkign water quality through water treatment plant imporvements.This results in water treatment plants that turn our extremely high quality water.Unfortunately,this high quality water is subject to degradation in the distribution system.For this reason,many regulations such as the Disinfectants?Disinfection By-Products Rule (D/DBPR) are enforced at the tap,not at the water treatment plant.To improve water quality at the tap to help meet the regulations,the effect of the distribution system operation on water quality needs to be understood.
