Stress analysis on photoelastic particles in centrifuge tests

摘要

A method, based on the use of an image processing station, has been developed for optical measurement of the stress distribution in an assembly of photoelastic granular material. This technique can be used to digitize the stress distribution inplane strain models with non-cohesive granular material in centrifuge tests. Knowledge of the stress distribution facilitates a better understanding of the problem and more detailed comparisons can be made with calculation methods.
