Image acquisition using an on-board film camera

摘要

Image processing to obtain quantitative information about the development of displacements and strains in plane strain models is not a new technique in centrifuge modelling. This paper reports a new method for undertaking the process developed atthe Cardiff Geotechnical Centrifuge Centre. The technique is based on digitised photographic images together with image processing and CAD software commercially available at a reasonable cost. The equipment developed and the procedures undertaken aredescribed together with results from plane strain centrifuge tests in which the construction of soil nailed excavations was modelled. The benefits and limitations of the technique are discussed.
