Some considerations for simulation of the Pubugou dam and cut off wall

The 186 meters high Pubugou dam is the largest earth fill dam under design in China. The safety of the 70 meters high cut off wall is one of the key problems in the dam's design. The centrifugal model tests were carried out to assess the safety of the cut off wall. In this paper some considerations of the simulation were introduced, including the test section determination, equivalent materials for prototype soils, the cut off wall simulations and the discussion of test results.
