Instrumentation for soft soil desiccation testing

摘要

This paper reports the technique used to monitor soil desiccation triggered in centrifuge experiments. A brief overview of the desiccation phenomena as well as the physical model are initially presented. The paper describes a non contact device to measure settlements and highlights its performance. A video system to monitor the cracking behavior is also described with several examples on how the images are handled and used to obtain the information for analysis.
