SAP R/3 tuning and upgrade practices

SAP R/3 performance data can be analyzed, tracked, and managed by SAP application module, Transaction Code (Tcode), and user. SAP performance problems are difficult to locate, i.e., SAP, the RDBMS, or the configuration, and whether to tune or upgrade. This paper shows via examples and a case s tudy, how multipledata views and analytical modeling can be effective for: (1) analyzing dialog step performance efficiency as a function of processing time and wait delays, (2) prioritizing tuning and upgrade alternative, and (3) evaluating configuration upgrade paths for growth forecasts and sizing.
