Use of Natural Energy At Konami Training Center in Nasu

This facility has bee ndesigned to maintain harmony with the nature of MT. Nasu, and to reduce the amount of fossil energy consumption by making the best use of natural energy. To achieve these goals, various technologies such as natural ventilaton, natural lighting, solr system, cool/heat tube, roof garden , eaves for sunlight protection were employed in this building. The most featured architectural form, whihc expresses and establishes the goals of this building, is the "corridor" which runs through the northern side of the guest rooms. This "corridor" functions as a solar energy pool in winter and as a passage of wind in summer. In addition to these technological functions for use of natural energy, it gives an impressive experience ofspace where nature can be felt in freely by the visitors. In this report, not only pre-design studies and results of field measurements of the "corrior" but also those on other technologies are shown.
