The behavior of intumescent coating, obtained by using amino-phosphate-formaldehyde resin, was investigated. Combustibility of the coating, quantity of heat released and heat release rate as well as mass loss were determined by using a cone calorimeter at heat flux of 35 kW/m~2. Thermal behavior of the resin was also studied by DTA and TGA in air up to 600°C. Moreover, the emission of hydrogen cyanide, carbon mono- and dioxide as well as aniline was determined during thermal decomposition of the intumescent coating at 300, 450 and 600°C.
