Recently steel scraps such as waste automobiles and electronic appliances contain copper wires, tin galvanized plate and other materials. Copper and tin in steel are harmful for steel properties and so-called tramp elements in consideration for recycling steels. However, it is difficult to remove copper and tin in an alloy state in steel by pre-treatments of solid ferrous scrap. Therefore, it is important to develop the refining process in order to eliminate copper and tin in liquid state.
