The new method for beam irradiation of extremely low intensity was realized by the acceleration of decay particles from heavy radioactive nuclei. Alpha particles from a ~(241)Am source (3.3 x 10~6 Bq) were accelerated up to 30 MeV with a cyclotron. The weak beam of alpha particles was detected and its energy and microscopic time structure were analyzed. The count rate of the beam extracted from the cyclotron was attenuated down to 5 counts per minute owing to limited acceleration efficiency. Other effective techniques for beam reduction are surveyed and compared. All techniques are capable of observing phenomena induced by single particle irradiation occurring at nano-meter-scale and picosecond time interval.
