Control system upgrade at the agua fria generating station: from pneumatics to DCS

Agua Fria Generating Station completed the removal and replacement of a 1950's vintage pneumatic boiler control system with a state of the art distributed control system in May 1996. The justification for the replacment was based on obsolete equipment for which replacment parts were due to unreliable controls, and a change in operation from the original base-load design to the current, daily cyclic operation to meet SRP's summer peaking power needs.
