Today's aging turbine-generator fleet is requiring additional repair dollars to maintain their reliability and thermal efficiency. Many units that were originally designed for base load operation are now being cycled to meet current system demands. This change of operational requirement is further jeopardizing the unit's operational reliability, while at the same time less funding is available for performing preventive maintenance.
