Net shape textile prreforms have received considerable attention for RTM composite consolidation. Among the processed that are used for producing preforms are: 2D weaving, 3D weaving, 2D brainding, 3D braiding, knitting and stitching. In this paper a review of each of these different techniques is given in relation to their use in RTM. The advantages and limitations of each process is outlined. Finally, several case studies are provided which compare the applcability of these techniques to make specific parts.
