Production of secondary metabolities using plant cell culture is aimed to produce alkaloids for pharmaceutical application, food additives and nutriments. Chemical engineering is a useful tool for systematic design of optimal processes and reactors for plant cell culture. Fundamental approach from the chemical engineering view point is useful in the meaning. A structured mode of Carthamus tinctorius cell culture and production systems of paclitaxel using Taxus cuspidata are given as well as genetic modification study of anthocyanin production by Fragaria ananassa.
