In the photosterilization of Escherichia coli cells with TiO_2-immobilzied activated carbon (TO/AC) particles, the sterilization rate constant was correlated with To/AC concentration; by considering the amount of cells adsorbed on TO/AC particles. Continuous sterilization was conducted with an annular photoreactor containing TO/AC particles. It was found that the cell viabiliyt at exit of the reactor decreased with an increase in mean residence time ranging from 57 to 109 min.
