摘要

A model based predictive control (MBPC) strategy has been designed for the mould level control in a continuous steel casting line. The main difficulty is the identification of the process model required by the predictive controller. The process dynamics are strongly time-varying. In order to keep the strategy running at its highest performance, a procedure for on-line model adaptation is absolutely necessary. This procedure must be both simple and robust, as the MBPC is operating in a real-life steel plant without supervision of experts.
