A Turkish lignite was extracted with water and toluene in sub- and supercritical temperatures between 20°C and 550°C and the pressures up to 30 MPa. The degree of conversion and the yields of extract and gas have been measured. With slowly rising the extraction temperature at constant pressure, the formation rates of extract are measured in a fixed bed of lignite, which is percolated by the solvent. The measured formation rate profiles exhibit characteristic differences depending on solvent type and extraction conditions.
