Today's prominent quality-management conceptualizations were developed for firms under stable economies having a tradition in open-market competition. Evidence suggests that those same constructs are not understood or are not accepted by practitioners in transition economies. Accordingly, this study examines one firm in depth--measuring perceptions of employees at all levels from the shop floor operatives to the top exective--as a preliminary step toward the future goal of widespread studies in transitional countries for comparison against past researches in more stable environments.
