A comprehensive program for severe accident mitigation was completed for all nuclear power plants in Sweden by the end of 1988. This program included introduction of filtered containment venting and redundant water supply to the containment spray system. In parallel Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP's) were developed. These EOP's have been tested in simulator training and drills. New ideas how the EOP's can be more user-friendly have emerged and work has started to rewrite these. The main aspects of this work are described in this paper.
