The reduction of the drag-out in barrel electroplating plants is subject to developments since many years. Practically realized processes are based on the blowing off of the barrel when hanging on the transport carrier above the tank [1] by means of sliding half shells which are laterally moved towards the barrel. The barrel can be additionally washed from one side of the hood. It can either been blown off or sprayed off. In lieu of the half shells a blowoff hood can be used into which the barrel is moved. Another solution [3, 4] comprises the blowing off / sprayng during travelling above the plant and where the liquid is collected in drip pans. At the transfer stations the liquid flows back, via troughs/pipes, into the corresponding baths.
