Thermal DSC, TG, DTG curves obtained by Geratebau GMBH, Netzsch Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer 409 STA were used to study the kinetics and the reaction mechanisms of self-reduction of carbon-bearing pellets. Based on the weight loss, the activation energy for different reaction steps in the different temperature ranges, the mechanisms fitting the results and the kinetic parameters were determined.
