With oxy-coal lances, 90 kg/thm of pulverized coalinjection rate was reached at No 1 blast furnace of Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co., which broke through the recognized limits that the rate of PCI could not be over than 60 kg/thm at the blast furnaces of smelting vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite. The result told that with oxy-coal lances the PCi rate and coal-to-coke replacement could be raised up, the unbrunt pulverized coal contained in slag decreased. Though the burden permeability decreased with increasing of coal injected the blast volume increased as a more active hearth resulted from the increasing of blast momenum of injection with oxy-coal lances.
