Powder Coatings - A comparison of the European and United States Approach

Powder Coatings continues to be one of the success stories in the coatings industry worldwide. From a slow start, the U. S. market is mebracing powder coatings in numerous applications. This paper will examine some of the differences between the European and U. S. position particularly with relation to certain types of rawmaterials and end use applications. One major area is architectulal aluminum which is one of the largest market segments in Europe, and yet one of the smallest in the U. S. In addition, the role that bonding has played in metallic powder coatings in Europe will also be discussed.
