Measurement of performance of finned tube heat exchangers operating under frosting conditions

In this paper, the performance of flat plate finned tube heat exchangers operating under frosting conditions is investigated by experiments. Heat exchangers of single and multiple tube row(s) are tested to show the effects of various parameters on the performance of the heat exchangers. The parameters include the temperature a nd relative humidity of the air, the flow rate of the air, the refrigerant temperature, the fin pitch, and the r ow number. The time variations of the heat transfer rate, the overall heat transfer coefficient, and the pressure drop of the heat exchangers are presented.
