Standards for high pressure cylinders for the on-board storage of natural gas as fuel for automotive vehicles

A draft ISO standard has been prepared for high pressure cylinders for the on-board storage of compressed natural gas as fuel for automotive vehicles.This single document addresses the safety issues involving metallic and composite cylinders.The conditions which the cylinders may be exposed to in service are defined in the standard and performance tests and requirements have been designed and validated to meet these service conditions.By being a performance standard,the document will allow for innovation in design and manufacturing to provide lightweight and safe cylinders for natural gas vehicles.
