An estimated 3,500 military firing ranges and 3,000 outdoor public and private gun clubs and shooting facilities in the United States contain lead and other related heavy metal compounds~((1)). This contamination results from the lead, antimony, copper, zinc, and arsenic used in making rifle projectiles and shotgun pellets.
