Full-scale uv/hydrogen peroxide treatemnt of organics in groundwater at the gloucester landfil treatment facility

Between the early 1960s and 1980s, the Gloucester Landfill Site was used as municipal dumpsite for the municipality of Gloucester, Ontario. During that time, a portion of the dumpsite was used as a special waste compound into which chemical wastes from a variety of government laboratories were disposed. After use of the dumpsite was discontinued, detailed hydrogeological studies revealed the presence of organic contaminants in the two aquifers located under the dumpsite.
