Instrumentation Techniques for Pyroshock Measurements

Pyroshock (or pyrotechnic shock) tests in acoustic chambers require special instrumentation techniques. An acoustic ahamber environment presents difficulties in instrumentation, calibration, data collection and data analysis. In addition, acquiring data signals spanning a broad frequency and dynamic range requires close attention to signal conditioning, instrumentation compatibility,a nd signal acquisition. This paper discusses the basic instrumentation processes employed at the Reverberant Acoustic Lab (RAL) at Lockheed Martin Aerospace to obtain the highest caliber pyroshock data.
