A new, portable vibration data acquisition system and analysis software was used to visualize and animate the vibration deformation of the compressor tailcone fairing in the AEDC Propulsion Wind Tunnel 16T. The system software allows one to observe the virbation of a test structure in slow motion by animating a 3D model using simultaneously sampled acceleration time records. The system was demonstrated to be an effective, easily applied, diagnostic tool for obtaining the actual peak deflections of the compressor tailcone fairing under operating conditions. A discussion of the system components, operating characteristics, and results from this application is presented.
