12 Management of hazardous waste at rcra facilities during the flood of'93-methods used and lessons learned

During the summer of 1993, the state of Iowa experienced severe flooding that caused the re-lease of many hazardous materials into the environment. Six months after the flood, the Iowa section of the RCRA brach, U.S. EPA Region 7, sent inspectors to survey evenry RCRA facility in Iowa. Information was gathered through questionnaires to determine the flood's impact and to learn potential lessons that could be beneficial in future flood disasters.
