The 1-95 bridge over Blue Heron Boulevard at West Palm Beach, Florida, sustained severe structural damage due to collision of over-sized vehicles with the bridge. The exterior and first interior girders onthe south-bound bridge (over Blue Heron Boulevard) sustained significant damage while the remaining girders were slightly impacted. The two damaged girders experienced significant loss of concrete section at the bottom flange and severe cracking between the webs and top and bottom flanges. The bridge was strengthened to the original capacity utilizing extenally bonded carbon materials.
