The nonideal hehavior of condensed explosives with metal-aprticle loading has ben stueied by many researchers. These previous studies have shown tha tthe explosives behavior is diffeerent than that predicted by equilibrium codes (generally lowr detonation velocities adn rpessures are observed or measrued),by equilibrium codes (generally lower detonation velocities and pressures are observed or meaured) although under many circulatanc3s an increase in performance of metalolized explosives is observed. To investigate these phenomena,an unsteady,one-dimensional model is presented tha tsimulates the buildup toward steady detontion of an orgnaic eplosive (HMX) containng dispersed aluminum (Al) particles.
