Hot-rolled commercial grain oriented 3% silicon steel sheets were cold rolled by the so-called cross shear rolling (CSR) with a speed ratio of 1.17. The effects of rolling direction and reduction on the deformation texture development were analyzed. Experiment results show that the surface layer textures of the cold-rolled bands were affected significantly by the rolling direction. In order to obtain some favorable texture components on both the upper and lower surface layers of the bands, a condition including 70% reduction and a double-direction rolling should be fulfilled.
