Soot productinfrom in-situ oil fires: review of the literature,measurement and estimation techniques and calculation of values form expeirmental spills

A review of the amount of soot produced by in-situ oil and fuel firest was ocnducted.the nature and beahiour of in-situ fires were reviewed noting htat there is significant gas se4paration betwene the plume and the urface.Secondly,there is significnat soot precipitation out of the plume near the fire.Th difficulty of performaing the soot production meaurement and estimating the value is noted.
