Smarter paratransit service with its: implementing a paratransit reservation and dispatch system at smart

The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) in the Detroit region has started the implementation of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) program through a Demonstration Project. The initial project in this ITS program was to implement an advanced software system for the paratransit reservation and scheduling functions. As of this writing, SMART is utilizing this new software in one of the three counties serviced by the paratransit fleet. The other two counties and the addition of remote dispatching capabilities to other regional service providers is planned over the next few months.
