The prediction of turbulent oscillatory flow ataround transitional Reynolds numbers is considered for anidealized electronics system. To assess the accuracy ofturbulence models, comparison is made with measurements. Astochastic procedure is used to recover instantaneous velocitytime traces from predictions. This procedure enables moredirect comparison with turbulence intensity measurementswhich have not been filtered to remove the oscillatory flowcomponent. Normal wall distances, required in someturbulence models, are evaluated using a modified Poissonequation based technique. A range of zero, one and twoequation turbulence models are tested, including zonal and anon-linear eddy viscosity models. The non-linear and zonalmodels showed potential for accuracy improvements.
