Given a sequence of assembly orders, tolerance chains, and positioning requirements for assembled parts as the input, our method modifies the assembly orders in such a way that the modified assembly orders become more physically reasonable for satisfying the positioning requirements for the parts than the input assembly orders. The input assembly orders consist of place operations and fastening operations, and the modified assembly orders include place, temporary fastening, fastening with adjustment, and fastening without adjustment operations. Positioning requirements are relative precisions between parts after assembled, and are described in tolerance chains.
