This paper deals with the optimum design mehtodology of a piping system subjected to a seismic design loading to reduce its dynamic response by selecting the location of pipe supports and whereby reducing the number of pipe supports to be sued.We will employ the Genetic Algorithm for obtaining a reasonably optimum solution of the pipe support location,support capacity and number of supports.The design condition specified by the support location,support capacity and the number of supports to be sued is encored by an integer number string for each of the support allo cation candidates and we prepare many strings for expressing various kinds of pipe-support allocation state.
