The increasing penetration of renewable energy resources (RERs) can challenge both power system planners and operators to maintain system reliability. Potential power grid stability issues may arise when a large number of renewable energy sources (RESs) are connected to a weak power system. The stability issues may become significant due to the interactions among RESs interconnected electrically close through a power network. When taking into account the interactions, the weakness analysis is computationally challenging for the assessment of grid strength at various points of interconnection of RERs. In this paper, a method for fast weakness analysis is proposed by analyzing the impact of structure of the network interconnecting various RERs on grid strength.
