Resettlement from Xiaolangdi Reservoir on the Yellow River and sustainable local economic developments

The resettlement strategy is to formulate and operate a resettlement planning in such a way that the resettlers' living standard will not be consequently degraded. This strategy has completely discarded the conventional resettlement practice of life-time compensation. To the contrary, it is a target-oriented production and livelihood planning, thus ensuring that the living standards of the resettlers will not be degraded as a result of resettlement.The resettlement planning sits squarely between production re-establishment, residential reconstruction, and infrastructure provision, with large-scale improvement of farmland and provision of corresponding infrastructures in host sites. Also, the resettlement-related industries in host sites will stimulate the local economic development.As roughly anticipated, the resettlers' quality of life will be improved within 2-3 years after resettlement.
