Some technical issues on hydroturbine generator units of Yangtze Three Gorges Project

As the largest hydropower, project under construction in the world, the three Gorges hydropower station on Yangtze features water head variation in large range, low head operation during flood season and high head operation during long dry season. The parameter selection for the turbine-generator units of the project shall satisfy not only the requirement of generating more electricity in low head situation, but also the assurance of stable operation in high head situation. This paper describes how to select design head of the turbine and increase generator capacity properly so as to improve operation stability as well as analyses the structure of the turbine-generator units and cooling scheme of the generator.
机译:长江三峡水电站是世界上最大的在建水电项目,其水头变化幅度大,汛期低水头运行,旱季长水头运行。本项目水轮发电机组的参数选择,不仅要满足低水头情况下发电量更大的要求,还要满足高水头情况下稳定运行的保证。本文介绍了如何选择水轮机的设计扬程,适当增加发电机容量,以提高运行稳定性,并分析了水轮发电机组的结构和发电机的冷却方案。
